Summer brings the reader through the day before her cat show day, from bath time to set up at the show hall.
The day before a cat show day is always a busy one! Mostly for my human, but for me too. Before anything else, I get a bath. There’s a reason for this being first that has nothing to do with me. My human needs to bathe me before she takes a shower. Otherwise, she will have fur sticking to her for the rest of the day.

My human has to make sure everything needed for my benching area is in order before going to the show hall to set up. These days, more often than not, I come along. I especially love coming to familiar show halls, like the one this weekend in Glendale. It’s like coming home.

Here’s the whole set up. We bring the smaller things, like my wardrobe and grooming tools, on the day of the show. My human doesn’t like them sitting around overnight unattended.

View of a judging ring at a cat show
I don’t compete anymore, but I thought you might like to see one of the judging rings. Every cat show has a theme and the rings get decorated to match it. If you saw yesterday’s video, you know this show’s theme was “Summer of Love” so the decor is very 1960s. Most of the people in charge of these shows are older, so they remember the 60s firsthand. That probably helped with the decor.

Little Groovy sign
Each table had little festive decorations.

They each also usually have a little bowl of candy. This time, there are also little cardbord 60s vans with chocolates on top. Of course that’s for the attendees, not the cats.

Since this hall is pretty quiet the afternoon before the show (some shows, like San Diego, get really crazy and noisy!), my human set up the iPhone camera and did a quick YouTube live with me before we left. It’s pretty random, but if you want to see it, it’s posted on my YouTube channel.

Does this sound like a lot of work? I guess it is! Let me know what you think in the comments.
