I had a nice time at the big hospital today. It started off in the Cancer Center, where I got to hang out with one of the infusion patients. I spent lots of time on her lap while she petted me nonstop and chatted with my human about my life as a therapy cat. It was about halfway through our visit that she revealed she had never petted a cat before!

After that we headed for the third floor, to the Labor and Delivery and Neonatal staff. Labor and Delivery didn’t have any patients for me, but they did enjoy visiting for a while.

I didn’t have quite enough time to tackle a whole wing of patients before our 2 PM appointment with Behavioral Medicine. So my human took me around to the waiting rooms instead. I wound up visiting with an elderly woman and her daughter. The older woman couldn’t tell whether I was a cat or dog at first (“My eyes are bad,” she apologized). But she was very interested in me and really enjoyed seeing me.

We made it to Behavioral Medicine right at 2 and they had a full house for me! The nurse in charge of our visits said a couple of the patients were shy and not talkative and one had developmental disabilities.

So the patients came in, and you could have fooled me about the two being shy and not very communicative! All the patients were friendly and happily petted me. The two women chatted a lot and asked many questions about me. The one with developmental disabilities hung back quietly. The nurse asked if he wanted to pet me and he said he just wanted to watch.

It wasn’t the busiest day I’ve had, but I think it was a good day.
