It's International Cat Day, and Summer suggests that people try out a human version of a cat day to better understand their feline friends.
It’s the 24th annual International Cat Day! The day was originally founded in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare to celebrate cats and raise awareness about cat well being.

There are many ways to celebrate, from helping out at your local shelter to pampering your cat. But maybe the best use of the day would be to spend it doing the human version of a cat day. That way, you could better understand our behavior, and why we do the things we do.

You game? It’s a good thing it’s on a Saturday this year because there isn’t much room for work. Let’s go!

The Human Version of a Cat Day

5 AM — Get up and have a small breakfast, then exercise for 20 minutes.

5:45 AM — go back to bed for an hour, then get up and have a snack.

7 AM — Spa day! Spend the next several hours grooming — have a facial, enjoy a massage or some aromatherapy, dive into that hair treatment you’ve been meaning to do — alternated with light napping. Don’t fall into a deep sleep. It’s more like dozing, where you’re still awake enough to know what’s going on. Do some daydreaming. Occasionally look out the window to see if anything interesting is happening.

4 PM — Playtime! Do a fun exercise for 30 minutes, preferably one that has you running around the whole house. It’s also dinner time, and you’ll probably be hungry after all that activity.

7 PM — Lounge around in front of the TV, maybe have a bubble bath.

11 PM — Bedtime, but don’t sleep too deeply. You need to know if anything important or dangerous is going on.

After reviewing this, it’s no wonder a lot of people wish they were cats! We indoor cats really do have a pretty cushy life. We still feel the need to keep an eye out for any danger, but overall, it’s relaxing and fun.

Enjoy your International Cat Day.
