SO LA Youth Animal RESCUE Education –
This program targets South Central, Los Angeles, a geography with extremely high statistics of animal abuse, abandonment, dog fighting, and kill rates, especially for Pit-Bull Breeds. We work on the human animal bond by educating “AT RISK” teens, orphans, and in community youth centers. The kids are taught respect for life, importance of spay & neuter, and responsibility of pet ownership.
Our program exposes the harsh reality of homeless animals through shelter tours, adoption events, classroom curriculum, and other educational resources.
Not only the shelter animals benefit from the rescue, love, and attention, but the children heal themselves in multiple ways through saving the life of animals.
The program activities include making “adopt me” bandana’s, baking dog treats, collecting blankets, recycling raising money – all to donate to homeless shelter animals.
Every child makes a life long pledge to protect, spay & neuter, and educate others on proper pet care.
Research shows the HUMAN-ANIMAL BOND is essential, having a direct affect on self esteem, reading comprehension, propensity for violence, incarceration or high school graduation, and empathy. In addition, 88% of homes with animal abuse also have child abuse.
Please help us grow this program that benefits our entire community. The money raised will cover education for about 150 children which includes workbooks, supplies, transportation costs, & youth curriculum as well as the cost of rescuing shelter animals.
THESE KIDS TRULY ARE THE ANIMAL ADVOCATES OF THE FUTURE & HOPE FOR HOMELESS PETS!
